  • Registration is now open for the Recycling Exposition(REXPO) 8 Unplugged on Wednesday, March 14th, 2012 from 7 am to 2 pm.  The cost to attend the Keynote Lunch Address is $30 per person.  We are honored to have Cabinet Secretary Matt Rodriquez of the California Environmental Protection Agency (CALEPA) as this year's Lunch Keynote Speaker.  Our Lunch Keynote Address generally has over 400 attendees, with over 1,500 attendees joining the REXPO throughout the day.  The cost to exhibit is $300 which includes one Lunch Ticket.  Attending the panel presentations and viewing the exhibits are free and open to the public, however you must pre-register to be eligible for drawings to win great prizes.  Click here to register.
  • The "Unplugged" theme represents two concepts. First, the event logo demonstrates that energy efficiency starts by unplugging appliances, office equipment, phone chargers, and other electronics when not in use.   These dormant electrical devices create "phantom loads" when plugged in.  They increase energy bills while contributing to air pollution. Second, is the perceived contradiction in priorities that is driving us all to feel "unplugged."  California has in its grasp a golden opportunity to reinvigorate our economy by investing in and supporting local green businesses.
  • Currently, approximately 5-20% of the recyclable materials collected in California remain in the State for remanufacturing;  the majority of the recycled materials are shipped to other parts of the United States or to global markets. So too, are our jobs, tax revenues and commerce.  Achieving emission reductions under AB 32 is dependent on ensuring that the recyclable materials are recycled into new products, which offers an enormous opportunity to existing and new businesses in California  The additional materials being diverted with the implementation of Assembly Bill 341 will only increase the opportunities.
  • Eight out of ten pieces of recyclables we place on our curb are being shipped to China (for product remanufacturing) with under-regulated power grids powered by coal, a huge Green House Gas (GHG) emitter, while our neighbors are losing their jobs and their homes. Ironically, the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD) has commissioned a study to verify that much of the pollution is finding its way back to the shores of California. What are we thinking?
  • REXPO 8 Unplugged will showcase  over 65 exhibitors, demonstrating that their products, services and innovations are drivers for economic prosperity in California. Join the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce as we explore solutions and common sense approaches to optimizing the Green Economy.
