With more and more companies identifying San Joaquin County as their home for green product manufacturing or service, they are needing a readied and trained workforce. The program works with our local academic institutions and businesses to create the necessary curriculum to ensure that our existing and future employees are trained for the jobs of today and tomorrow.

Pathways to Green Schools

October 29, 2010
7:30 am to 11:30 am
Hilton Stockton
323 Grand Canal Blvd.
Stockton, CA 95207

You are cordially invited to join us, other school leaders, and business representatives from throughout the county at the first "Pathways to Green Schools Conference & Exhibition" at the Hilton Stockton on Friday, October 29, 2010  from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  The event is sponsored by the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce's Business Education Alliance (BEA) in affiliation with the Green Team San Joaquin program.

This conference will kick off a one of a kind event designed to build partnerships and leverage resources that are vital in creating more sustainable schools and in preparing our youth for the jobs of the future.

Participants will get the opportunity to learn about existing green schools efforts and green careers programs, develop strategies to adopt these effectively in their schools and districts, and interact with local business and educational partners.

Highlights of the conference include panel discussions addressing:

  • Cost-saving green schools strategies
  • Partnerships with local businesses
  • Enriching the classroom and community with green curriculum
  • Secondary and post-secondary programs that prepare students for green careers

You are encouraged to bring two student representatives to share in the days' presentations and collaboration.  Admission is free to all participants.

Immediately following the conference, the semi-annual "Down Under Scholarship Luncheon", a fundraiser for scholarships to local colleges and universities, will take place at the Outback Steakhouse at 1243 W. March Lane in Stockton.  Tickets are $15 per person for the choice of a steak, chicken, or pasta lunch with a salad and drink.
